The YMCA is first and foremost a volunteer organization. There are nearly 3,000 YMCA’s in the country and even more throughout the world. Some of them are in buildings with shiny gyms and swimming pools and state-of-the-art training facilities. Yet other Y’s are no more than people with passion and programs in whatever facilities are available. However, every single Y, from Maquoketa, to Israel, to India, is volunteer-founded, volunteer-based and volunteer-led.
There are as many different types of volunteer opportunities available at the Scott County Family Y as there are different types of people. From assisting our business and administrative teams, to coaching t-ball, youth basketball and soccer, our community and our YMCA become better places to live when our humble members pitch in and lend a hand. Volunteering is fun. It will make you a better person, and the world a better place to live.

Volunteering made an immeasurable contribution to communities, organizations, and individuals throughout the country. Volunteers are the backbone of youth development and an intricate component of the YMCA's continuing success as a non-profit organization. You too can make a difference in the community and impact the lives of our youth.
