The Mission of the Maquoketa Area Family YMCA is:

To put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

We provide programs and services to assist each individual to overcome their most immediate obstacle to reach their God given potential.

We accomplish our mission by demonstrating and teaching the character traits of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Welcome to the Maquoketa Area Family YMCA

Thank you for visiting the Maquoketa Area Family YMCA website.

Our YMCA is a unique collaboration between the City of Maquoketa and the Scott County Family Y in Davenport. There are several things that the Maquoketa Y does on behalf of the City of Maquoketa.  The Y operates the new recreation center at 500 East Summit Street, manages the Maquoketa Community Center on Eliza Street, and has assumed direction of the Maquoketa Recreation Department programs.

Since the Y commenced operation in late 2007, a wide variety of new programs have become available to area residents. Our website will provide you with information on what is offered and when.

The Y is, however, more than a collection of activities.  It is a philosophy of how to involve people in building spirit, mind and body.  It is a locally based world wide movement that seeks to identify area needs and use community resources to meet those needs.  The Maquoketa Y helps build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

I invite you to look over our website and find an activity where you can join with others to help the Y build spirt, mind and body.

2009 Partner with Youth Campaign Kicks Off

On February 10, Over 50 Y volunteer campaigners met at the Y and kicked off the 2009 Partner with Youth/Kids to Camp campaign. The Y volunteers hope to raise $60,000 to help kids and families access YMCA programs that they otherwise might not be able to afford.  The campaign is scheduled to run from 10 February until late March and is chaired by Maquoketa YMCA Advisory Board member Brian Aunan. Y members and friends will receive a letter and campaign brochure in the mail and will be called on by one of the volunteers.

Last years campaign raised over $64,000 and all of it was used to assist kids and families.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution can stop in at the Maquoketa Area Family YMCA  and visit with Mark Proeschel or call Mark at the Y for further information.  The Y number is 563-652-6566.
